Terms of use

Last updated 9 October 2026

These terms explain what you can expect from Zoopedia and what we expect from everyone who uses it, so that it stays a safe, honest place for animals and the people who care for them.

1. About these terms

Zoopedia (pedia.ng and its apps) brings together animal owners, farmers, vets and other animal professionals, sellers, and the people who support them. By creating an account or using Zoopedia you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Zoopedia.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make important changes we will tell you on Zoopedia; using Zoopedia after a change means you accept the new terms.

2. Your account

Give true details when you sign up, including your name, username and where you are, and keep them up to date. Keep your password safe: you are responsible for what happens under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old, or use Zoopedia with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.

One person or business per account. Do not pretend to be someone else, or to be a vet or professional you are not.

3. What you post

You keep ownership of the posts, photos, videos, listings and messages you add. You allow Zoopedia to show them on Zoopedia and in links you or others share, so that the people you choose can see them.

Do not post anything illegal, false or misleading, hateful, violent or sexual, or anything that harms an animal. Do not sell or advertise protected wildlife or anything the law does not allow. Respect other people’s work: only post what you have the right to share.

We may review, hide or remove content, and limit or close accounts, that break these terms or the law, or that put people or animals at risk. You can report anything that worries you from its own ⋯ menu.

4. Vets, experts and health information

Professionals who list on Zoopedia must hold the qualifications and licences their work needs. A “verified” badge means we checked the documents shown to us; it is not a guarantee of anyone’s work.

Records, articles and answers on Zoopedia (including pAI, our assistant) help you care for animals but do not replace a vet who has examined the animal. In an emergency, contact a vet straight away.

5. Buying and selling

Sellers are responsible for their products, prices, stock, descriptions and delivery, and for following the law where they sell. Buyers should read a product’s details, including its options such as size or colour, before paying.

Payments are made through Paystack or a payment service the seller has connected; some sellers also accept bank transfer or payment on delivery. Payments for animals sold on Zoopedia can be held by Zoopedia until the buyer confirms the sale, then released to the seller.

If something goes wrong with an order, contact the seller first. If you cannot sort it out, contact us and we will help where we can.

6. Support campaigns

Support campaigns raise donations for animals, people and projects. A gift is a donation: it does not buy a share, a profit or a return. Gifts are held by Zoopedia and released to the campaign as its page explains.

Campaigners must tell the truth about who or what they raise money for, and use it for that purpose.

7. Events, passes and bookings

Organisers are responsible for their events, and for any change, cancellation or refund. A ticket or free pass belongs to the person who claimed it and is shown at the entrance; organisers check passes in by their code or QR.

When you book a service from an expert, the expert confirms the booking and its price; the booking is between you and the expert.

8. Fees

Zoopedia is free to join. Some things cost money -- for example a platform fee on sales, tickets and support gifts, listing plans, and promotions -- and the price is always shown before you pay.

9. Your privacy

We collect what we need to run Zoopedia: your account details, what you post, and the records, orders and messages you create. If you allow it, your phone’s location is used to show sellers and services nearest you; you can turn it off at any time.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as Zoopedia needs to work -- for example with payment services when you pay, or with a seller you order from -- or when the law requires it. We follow Nigeria’s data protection law (NDPA), and you can ask us to see, correct or delete your data through the Contact page.

10. Our responsibility

We work to keep Zoopedia safe, accurate and available, but it is provided as it is, and we cannot promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions. Dealings between users -- sales, bookings, events and campaigns -- are between those users. As far as the law allows, Zoopedia is not responsible for losses from them, or from content other people post.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

11. Questions

Anything unclear, or something to report? Send us a message on the Contact page and we will get back to you.
